The BYD Dolphin Mini recorded over 4,000 units sold in February 2026, becoming the top-selling car in Brazil's retail market and the first fully electric vehicle to achieve this ranking. According to Fenabrave data, BYD ranked fourth in national retail sales in 2025. Since its launch in Brazil, the model has accumulated more than 62,000 units sold, contributing to BYD's total of over 225,000 fully electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in the country.
The Dolphin Mini's success is bolstered by 2025 awards, such as Best Urban Car in the World at the World Car Awards and inclusion in Time's Best Inventions list. In Brazil, it won the Prêmio Mobilidade Limpa from Agência AutoInforme and was named Urban Car of the Year at the Car Awards.
Features like up to 280 km range per the Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program, fast charging from 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes on DC, and up to 79% cost savings compared to combustion vehicles (based on 12,000 km annually) drive its popularity. The model provides ample interior space, superior finishes, and low maintenance costs, with no fuel expenses.
Production takes place in Camaçari, Bahia, as part of BYD's industrial consolidation strategy in Brazil, advancing the national shift toward electrification.
