Christoffer Rifalk leaves Rögle BK for Ilves after seven seasons

Swedish goaltender Christoffer Rifalk has confirmed his departure from Rögle BK after seven successful seasons. The 32-year-old is set to join Finnish club Ilves. Rifalk shared the news on Instagram, thanking the club and fans.

Christoffer Rifalk announced on Instagram that he is leaving Rögle BK, the SHL club based in Ängelholm, Sweden, after joining in 2019. He had previously helped promote Oskarshamn to the SHL. Rifalk described his time there as an incredible journey, writing, “Vilken resa det har varit, 7 år och ett ställe jag knappt besökt innan blev snabbt något att genuint kalla mitt hem.” He noted finding lifelong friends and his partner in the city, which quickly became home for him. Rögle has expressed optimism about the club's future, with Rifalk believing fans will one day celebrate an SM title on Stortorget in Ängelholm. During his tenure, Rifalk played 194 regular-season games and 51 playoff matches, contributing to a regular-season title, a CHL championship, and three SM finals, including this season's loss. Finnish media report that Rifalk's next stop is Ilves in Finland. Rögle will see a return of Calle Clang in goal, who left for North America in 2023 but is now coming back to the club.
