Collabora Productivity has released the first major update to its desktop office suite. Collabora Office 26.04 brings features from the online version and adds AI capabilities that remain off by default.
The suite runs on LibreOffice code but uses a JavaScript, CSS, WebGL, and Canvas interface for consistent online and offline editing. Users access recent documents and templates on a new start screen.
AI support lets users connect their own model provider or self-hosted option without giving Collabora access to documents. Once enabled, the tools draft text in Writer, fix formulas in Calc, create slides in Impress, generate images, and summarize content.
Writer gains improved document comparison with color-coded changes and author timestamps, plus multi-page views and Markdown support. Calc adds per-user sheet views, a table design tab, floating error dialogs, and new functions including TEXTSPLIT and HSTACK.
Impress introduces follow-me presenting, slide sections, mixed slide sizes, and better font embedding. The software is available for Linux, Windows, and macOS through standard stores, with enterprise support still in development.
