Community event promotes fire prevention and tree planting at Laguna de Batuco Sanctuary

An educational day on forest fire prevention and native tree planting took place at the Laguna de Batuco Nature Sanctuary as part of the Raíces de Bienestar program.

The activity was organized by Fundación San Carlos de Maipo together with the CECOSF of Batuco and CONAF. Program participants planted specimens donated by CONAF in the sanctuary.

Raúl Perry, program manager at the foundation, highlighted the relevance of the day for the sanctuary's neighbors. He noted that knowing prevention measures is fundamental to protect the local ecosystem.

The Raíces de Bienestar program has operated since 2025 with the CECOSF of Lampa. It seeks to connect people with nature to improve mental health, reduce anxiety and strengthen the sense of community.
