Como 1907 president Mirwan Suwarso has given the green light for coach Cesc Fàbregas to join Chelsea if it makes him happy. The statement follows Chelsea's sacking of Liam Rosenior. Fàbregas, however, emphasized his focus on Como and the upcoming Genoa match.
Como 1907 president Mirwan Suwarso stated he would not block Cesc Fàbregas if the Spanish coach wants to move to Chelsea. "If it makes him happy, go ahead. You certainly want employees to stay as long as possible, but ultimately we don't own him and he is free to go to Chelsea if he wants," Suwarso said.
Fàbregas has successfully lifted Como from a mediocre side to Serie A contenders for a European spot this season. Since retiring as a player in 2023, he promoted Como and won the Bearzot Award as Italy's best coach. He is also a minority shareholder in the Italian club.
Chelsea is seeking a new coach after sacking Liam Rosenior, with Fàbregas a top candidate due to his playing history there. The London club needs someone to rebuild the team in the 2025/2026 season.
However, Fàbregas responded calmly to the rumors. "There's nothing I can say about that," he said, reaffirming his commitment to the Como project. "It would be stupid to think about that now; my focus is the next match against Genoa." He is determined to continue at Como to take the team to Europe for the first time in its history.
