Konami has released a playable demo for Contra: Rogue Corps, the latest entry in the classic Contra series. The demo is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It offers a preview of the game's single-player campaign and boss battles.
Konami announced the availability of a playable demo for Contra: Rogue Corps via a tweet, marking a revival for the beloved retro shooter franchise. Developed as an isometric top-down twin-stick third-person action game, Contra: Rogue Corps amps up the series' signature intensity, including playable characters like a panda commando.
The demo, detailed by Gematsu, lets players experience the single-player campaign set in the Damned City. Participants complete missions to gather resources for upgrading guns and body parts, essential for survival against enemies. It includes a preview of one of the large-scale boss battles featured in the full game. Co-op options allow bringing in an online friend to tackle challenges together, alongside local couch co-op. Additionally, the demo introduces the unique online player-versus-player mode known as Carnage League.
Importantly, the demo operates as a stand-alone experience, with no progress carrying over to the main game. Contra: Rogue Corps is scheduled for release on September 24 in the Americas and Asia, followed by September 26 in Europe and Japan, across PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch platforms.
This release coincides with Tokyo Game Show 2019, highlighting Konami's push for the title's crazed action gameplay.
