The Copa Libertadores round of 16 draw held on Friday paired the Chilean teams with Argentine opponents. Coquimbo Unido will face Platense while Universidad Católica meets Estudiantes de La Plata.
For the first time in 14 years, two Chilean teams topped their groups in the Copa Libertadores group stage. Coquimbo Unido led Group B ahead of Tolima, Nacional of Uruguay and Universitario. Universidad Católica won its group, ahead of Cruzeiro, Boca Juniors and Barcelona de Guayaquil.
Friday’s virtual draw set the round of 16 ties. The matches will be played between August 11 and 20. Both Chilean sides will host the second leg.
In the Copa Sudamericana, O’Higgins will meet Boca Juniors in the playoffs. The winner of that tie faces Recoleta of Paraguay in the round of 16.
