Swedish center David Gustafsson has signed a new one-year two-way contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The agreement is valued at 850000 dollars in the NHL and 425000 dollars in the AHL.
The 26-year-old forward was recently traded from the Winnipeg Jets to Pittsburgh in exchange for defenseman Jack St. Ivany. After the trade the Penguins extended a qualifying offer that secured his rights before the sides reached the new deal.
Gustafsson spent the previous season in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose where he recorded 10 goals and 22 assists in 48 games. He was originally drafted by Winnipeg in the second round of 2018 and has appeared in 149 NHL games.
The contract covers the 2026/27 season after which Gustafsson is expected to become an unrestricted free agent.
