Destanee Aiava captured her first ITF title of the season at the W15 tournament in Brisbane. The 26-year-old New Zealander defeated local player Belle Thompson 6-2, 6-3 in the final without dropping a set throughout the event.
Aiava secured her 11th career ITF crown with dominant performances across five matches. She advanced after wins over Ava Beck, Tori Russell and Ya Yi Yang before claiming the title.
She posted on Instagram after the victory, noting it was her first professional tournament since January and first title as a Kiwi. Aiava had switched her nationality from Australia to New Zealand in June.
The win comes in her final season on tour. She announced her retirement earlier this year after facing online abuse and admitting she had never truly enjoyed the sport.
