The Department of Justice has approved criminal charges against lawyer Levi Baligod and 18 individuals known as the maleta boys for cyberlibel and perjury.
The Department of Justice announced on July 28 that it approved the filing of cases against Baligod and the 18 individuals.
Baligod faces four counts of cyberlibel. Three counts are filed jointly with the 18 and one is in his individual capacity. The 18 face six counts of cyberlibel and four counts of perjury.
The charges stem from complaints filed by former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV and others. The allegations involve claims that complainants received money from flood control funds linked to former lawmaker Zaldy Co.
Baligod said he will file a motion for reconsideration. He disputed the findings on cyberlibel and perjury.
