Koei Tecmo has announced an indefinite delay for Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, originally set for March 19, 2026. The decision aims to improve the game's quality as the first remaster in the series. Fans will receive a new release date later.
Koei Tecmo revealed Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered in September 2025, promising a modernized take on the 2001 PlayStation 2 action game built in Unreal Engine 5. The remaster includes the original game and its Xtreme Legends expansion, featuring over 40 officers, iconic 1 vs. 1,000 battles, new stories, bodyguard customization, new weapons, and four challenge modes.
Originally scheduled for release on March 19, 2026, the title has now been delayed indefinitely. Producer Tomohiko Sho explained the reasoning in a statement: “As the first remaster of the Dynasty Warriors series, in order to fully satisfy our fans, we have made the decision to further improve the quality of the game. The new release date will be announced at a later date.” He added, “We appreciate your patience as we take a little more time before the game releases.”
The Dynasty Warriors series, which began on PlayStation 1, became closely tied to the PS2 era with five mainline entries. Dynasty Warriors 3 stands out, particularly with its Xtreme Legends content, making this remaster the most comprehensive edition yet.
Upon release, the game will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC, expanding access beyond its original platform. This delay follows a trend of postponements for 2026 titles, though Koei Tecmo emphasized quality as the priority for this milestone project.
