EB Games Australia has lowered pre-order prices for the Pokémon TCG 30th Anniversary Collection after setting higher figures to deter scalpers. The retailer says genuine fans who placed orders will now pay reduced amounts. The move follows customer complaints about the original costs.
The company posted a message on Instagram from managing director Shane Stockwell explaining the approach. It described the initial prices as a deliberate strategy to make it harder for scalpers while giving fans a better chance to secure products.
Successful pre-orders will now be charged $120 AUD for an Elite Trainer Box and $305 USD for Ultra Premium Collections. These figures remain above the standard $60 MSRP for Elite Trainer Boxes and previous Ultra Premium Collection pricing of $120.
The Pokémon Company International has not yet announced official prices for the September release. EB Games said it will review orders to confirm eligibility before applying the adjusted charges.
