ETA launches business consultation platform amid second tax package dialogue

In a follow-up to earlier announcements on Egypt's second tax facilitations package, Rasha Abdel Aal, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, launched a new consultation platform at an American Chamber of Commerce conference, enabling businesses to provide input on tax policies during ongoing societal dialogues.

Building on the second tax facilitations package—outlined at prior events like the Egyptian Tax Association conference and launched December 23 with features such as the Tax Excellence Card, accelerated VAT refunds, and capital market incentives—Rasha Abdel Aal announced the platform's launch during a societal dialogue hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt.

Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk's commitment to societal dialogue underscores efforts to foster trust, transparency, and partnership with businesses. The platform allows companies and sectors to submit views and proposals before tax decisions are finalized.

Abdel Aal recapped the first package's successes under 'A Full Stop and a New Line,' which simplified procedures and built taxpayer trust. The second package advances this by integrating the informal economy, offering incentives like fast-track services via the Excellence Card, a central clearing system for offsets, export guidance, a real estate tax app, stamp duty on securities, and specialized tax centers in New Cairo, New Alamein, and Sheikh Zayed.

This initiative supports a modern, investment-friendly tax system aligned with Egypt's sustainable development goals.
