Truck drivers and farmers marched in Mexico City on May 20 to demand talks with President Claudia Sheinbaum on grain prices and road security.
Protesters gathered at the Angel of Independence and advanced along Paseo de la Reforma. Baltazar Valdez Armentia, president of Campesinos Unidos de Sinaloa, warned that the countryside would rise if basic grains are not removed from the T-MEC.
The Secretariat of Citizen Security deployed operations that surrounded groups on Eje 2 Norte. Emigdio Taboada, a producer from Tlaxcala, denounced the police blockade during a peaceful demonstration.
David Estévez Gamboa of the National Transport Association said the march aimed to reach the Senate and the Attorney General's Office. The Mexico-Pachuca, Mexico-Querétaro, Mexico-Puebla and Mexico-Cuernavaca highways saw disruptions.
