Finland opened its World Championship campaign with a 3-1 victory over Germany on May 15. General manager Jere Lehtinen revealed that the team has already reached out to NHL forward Mikael Granlund about joining the squad.
Finland took an early lead in the tournament by defeating Germany 3-1. Anton Lundell scored once and added an assist while being named the team's best player. Jesse Puljujärvi also recorded a goal and an assist, and Aatu Räty contributed a goal.
