Focus Entertainment has announced a third year of post-launch support for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, building on Saber Interactive's commitment to long-term free updates. The extension follows strong community reception and 12 million player purchases, with all postponed year two roadmap content rolling over free of charge.
Focus Entertainment revealed the news in a post on its official community website, celebrating the 12 million player milestone before unveiling the extension. 'Space Marine 2's live support has officially been extended into a third year, bringing even more free updates and DLC content,' the post stated. Recent updates have motivated the team to continue, shifting everything not included in the year two roadmap to year three—all remaining free as planned. Details for year three are not yet available.
This follows Saber Interactive chief creative officer Tim Willits' recent statements distancing the game from the 'live-service' label while pledging sustained support without excessive monetization.
The year two roadmap includes substantial updates: a Q2 2026 patch with a Techmarine champion class (recently highlighted in updates), a new PvE map, ultra-challenging 'Trials of Resolve' Ordeals, single-player practice on the Battle Barge hub, new customization options, a new sidearm, three heroic weapon variants, and multiple perk loadouts. Q3 brings champion packs for Iron Hands and Salamanders chapters, plus a cosmetics pack for the Raptors.
Space Marine 2 was the biggest Steam launch for a Warhammer 40,000 game, and Saber Interactive has already announced a sequel in development with a Space Marine 3 teaser.
