Hoy No Circula restrictions operate today in CDMX and Edomex

The Hoy No Circula program is operating normally this Saturday, May 16, across Mexico City’s 16 boroughs and 18 municipalities in the State of Mexico. The restrictions aim to reduce air pollution in the metropolitan area.

Restrictions are in force from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Vehicles with hologram 1 and odd-numbered plates ending in 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 are banned. Cars with hologram 2, regardless of plate number, and foreign vehicles are also prohibited.

Only vehicles displaying holograms 00 or 0 are exempt. The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis confirmed the rules cover designated roads in the capital and bordering municipalities such as Ecatepec, Tlalnepantla de Baz and Naucalpan de Juárez.

The weekly schedule organizes circulation by sticker color and final plate digit. Officials noted that compliance helps improve air quality for residents in the region.
