The German Weather Service (DWD) warns of local icy conditions on roads in southern, eastern, and central Germany until Friday morning. Frost, fog, and light snow are possible in these areas. Some snow is also expected in mountainous regions.
According to the DWD's warning report, local icy conditions may develop on roads, persisting until Friday morning. This affects primarily southern, eastern, and central Germany, where patchy frost is forecast. Local fog and ice are possible, with some snow in mountainous areas.
Overnight into Friday and into the morning, patchy fog with visibility under 150 meters is likely in the south. From the south and southwest to the eastern center, there is a low probability of locally freezing rain or drizzle and black ice.
Starting overnight, the DWD expects light snowfall in higher elevations from Bavaria to the eastern mid-range mountains. Above 600 to 800 meters, one to three centimeters of fresh snow are predicted, and up to five centimeters in drift areas.
The night will be cold with light frost. Temperatures are expected to range between minus three and zero degrees until Friday morning, except in the west and parts of the northeast. In the southeast, light frost may persist throughout the day.
This forecast highlights the need for caution on roads to prevent accidents from ice and poor visibility.
