The Hoosiers shot efficiently and handled pressure defense effectively despite foul trouble.
Indiana jumped out to a strong first half, leading 56-38 at the break after three 8-0 surges and a half-court buzzer-beater 3-pointer from Conor Enright. Marquette, which prided itself on pressure defense, forced only eight turnovers from the Hoosiers, who responded with 27 assists on 33 field goals and 50% shooting overall. Indiana made 14 of 28 three-pointers and 20 of 24 free throws in the 100-77 win.
Tucker DeVries was dominant early, scoring 24 of his 27 points before halftime on 8-for-12 shooting, including 5-for-7 from beyond the arc. He played all 20 first-half minutes despite team-wide foul issues, picking up his fourth foul midway through the second. Lamar Wilkerson stepped up in his absence, scoring 15 of his 23 points after the break, going 5-for-7 on threes and adding eight assists, three rebounds, two steals, and a block.
Reserves provided key support amid limited depth from injuries and fouls—Conor Enright fouled out, while Tucker DeVries, Tayton Conerway, Reed Bailey, and Sam Alexis each reached four or three fouls. Freshman Trent Sisley contributed 15 points and five rebounds on 7-for-12 shooting in 30 minutes. Sam Alexis added 13 points and five rebounds in 26 minutes, including lob finishes. Marquette cut the lead to 10 at 65-55 with 13:46 left, led by Chase Ross's 19 points (10-for-12 free throws), but Indiana pulled away to 83-63 on Wilkerson's threes. The Golden Eagles shot 37% from the field, 4-for-16 from three, and 29-for-33 from the line in a game with 45 fouls and 57 free throws. Nigel James scored 16 points, and Royce Parham added 11 for Marquette, now 2-1.
Indiana returns home Wednesday for a five-game homestand starting against Milwaukee. Marquette hosts Little Rock on the same day.
