The National Water Commission reported that this Saturday, June 20, intense localized rains are expected in states including Jalisco, Michoacán and Guerrero due to active weather systems.
CONAGUA detailed that conditions stem from a dry line, a low-pressure channel in the Northern Plateau, an out-of-season cold front and moisture inflow from the Pacific and Gulf of Mexico.
Strong rains with very strong localized points are forecast in Chihuahua, Durango, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Querétaro, Puebla, Mexico City, Oaxaca and Chiapas. Tropical waves number 8 and 9 contribute to showers and storms with electrical discharges in the west, center and south of the country.
The Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection recommended avoiding river crossings and flood-prone areas, identifying evacuation routes and taking shelter during electrical storms. Accumulations of 75 to 150 millimeters are expected in eastern Nayarit, northern Jalisco and southern Zacatecas.
