Directed by Ti West, known for films like X, Pearl, and MaXXXine, the project features Depp in extensive makeup and prosthetics that alter his usual look dramatically. Photos published by People show him wearing a large blue-and-black coat over pyjamas, with long salt-and-pepper hair emerging from a nightcap.
Depp filmed scenes with Andrea Riseborough, who plays the Ghost of Christmas Past. Riseborough, aged 44, was covered in white makeup from head to toe, wearing white contact lenses and a long, flowing white dress for an ethereal effect. The cast also includes Tramell Tillman, Ian McKellen, Rupert Grint, Daisy Ridley, and Sam Claflin.
This film represents Depp's return to a major Hollywood studio production following his defamation trial against Amber Heard, which concluded in June 2022 after six weeks.
