JYP Entertainment Idol Baby Draws Fan Mockery Over Stage Name

An upcoming member of JYP Entertainment's new girl group OURBIRTHDAY has sparked online debate over her stage name ahead of debut. The 17-year-old Taiwanese member, born Hsieh Jiaxuan and also known as Angela Baby Hsieh, joins two others announced so far for the seven-member lineup.

INNIT Entertainment, an independent subsidiary under JYP, began unveiling the roster this week. The group name OURBIRTHDAY and the stage name Baby quickly drew criticism from fans who called them the worst in K-Pop.

Some fans defended the choice, noting that Baby forms part of her real English name and shares it with actress Angelababy. Others compared it to NMIXX member Bae, whose alias also derives from her birth name Bae Jin Sol.

The three announced members are set to promote the single “HUNGRY (Side A)” on music shows next week.
