The 62-year-old comedy icon told The Adam Buxton Podcast she is content with semi-retirement and sees little chance of new roles.
Kathy Burke has been on a self-imposed break from acting for the past decade. When asked about upcoming work she replied, “Probably not… I’m not working. I’m having a break ... [Although] Never say never.”
The Gimme Gimme Gimme star made an exception for Steve McQueen’s Blitz after the director personally asked her. McQueen also pushed her to write her memoir A Mind of My Own, stressing that working-class stories matter.
Burke admits turning 60 hit differently than 40 or 50. She described feeling physically sick at the thought that she has entered the “last chapter” of her life.
She is already planning a second memoir covering illness, menopause and other personal hurdles.
