The revised Kerala budget presented on June 19 provides only ₹1 crore for two priority infrastructure projects in Kochi. City officials and opposition leaders expressed disappointment over the limited support for key developments.
Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan presented the revised State Budget for 2026-27. It includes ₹1 crore for initial steps on the Goshree–Bolgatty Parallel Bridge and the Goshree–Mamangalam Road. An appendix lists other proposals such as road renovations and a bridge but provides no funding details.
Kochi Corporation had sought support for multiple projects including a water treatment plant, waste-to-energy facility, roads, rail overbridges, and the Vembanad Lake Rejuvenation Mission. Mayor V.K. Minimol noted that most items on the list received no allocation.
Opposition figures criticised the outcome. V.A. Sreejith said the budget overlooked transportation, water supply, waste management and stray dog issues. S. Sathish highlighted the absence of Kochi Metro expansion funds and other major road projects.
