The Public Labor Ministry in Minas Gerais is probing an assault complaint against an employee at the Midea factory in Pouso Alegre. The incident reportedly occurred on June 15.
The Metalworkers Union of Pouso Alegre reported that a quality sector worker was punched in the ribs and struck with a gasket during his shift. The group held a mobilization with about 1,200 participants outside the factory on June 23.
Midea said it suspended the involved manager and denied that a work stoppage took place. A company interlocutor acknowledged an assault but disputed the scale described by the union and stated the internal investigation is ongoing.
The MPT-MG confirmed receipt of the complaint, which has been assigned for investigation. The union also cited other recent complaints involving moral harassment, sexual harassment, production pressure and bathroom access restrictions.
