A man in his twenties in Mariannelund has been sentenced by Eksjö District Court to six months in prison for intentional vandalism in his apartment and to cars parked outside.
The apartment damage amounted to 171 842 kronor and included broken windows, destroyed white goods and a ripped-down sink that caused water damage. The man also damaged parked cars by tearing off a registration plate and throwing a stone at a rear window.
While in custody he pulled down a wall shelf and destroyed a remote control. He denied the charges and described the damage as accidents, including windows breaking during a snowstorm.
Eksjö District Court rejected the explanations as obvious after-the-fact constructions and also convicted him of illegal threats against police officers. A female police officer is awarded 10 000 kronor in compensation for personal insults. The man must pay a total of 190 000 kronor in damages.
