The final bullfight of the Santiago fair in Santander delivered an emotional afternoon marked by Marco Pérez's goring, Aarón Palacio's performance and Morante de la Puebla’s work.
Marco Pérez suffered a goring to the right thigh during the second bull from Juan Pedro Domecq. He underwent surgery under general anesthesia and the medical report gave a reserved prognosis after a wound with two trajectories that affected thigh muscles.
Aarón Palacio faced a difficult bull with determination and delivered a strong performance on the fifth, though he had issues with the kill. He was awarded one ear and two laps of the ring after strong public demand.
Morante de la Puebla worked the sixth bull in a slow and precise faena that included rounds and naturals. The crowd gave him a loud ovation although the president awarded no prizes.
All three matadors faced a strong bull run that shifted from initial hardness to nobility at the end. The public protested several decisions by the president.
