The Dallas Mavericks have fired head coach Jason Kidd after five seasons. New team president Masai Ujiri announced the move on Tuesday and said the organization will conduct an open search for a replacement.
Ujiri praised Kidd for his leadership and for helping the Mavericks reach the 2024 NBA Finals. He emphasized that the search will be thorough and will consider candidates with a range of backgrounds including first-time head coaches, experienced NBA staff, college coaches and those from Europe. Ujiri added that he did not speak with any candidates before Kidd's departure out of respect for the process.
