CJ ENM’s Mnet Plus has confirmed that its horror variety show SUMBAKKOKJIL will return for a second season sometime in July.
The platform revealed the upcoming season through teaser videos that include flashbacks from the first season along with three new story-based clips.
Season 2 shifts from the simple hide-and-seek setup of the original to a narrative format built around urban legends and ghost stories. Idols will now portray characters inside an unknown space rather than simply evading an unseen seeker for 4,444 seconds.
The production team stated that the new approach lets participants “experience the feeling of having personally stepped inside the world of an urban legend.” No premiere date or initial cast has been disclosed yet.
Season 1 featured eight K-pop groups: TREASURE, NCT WISH, RIIZE, ZEROBASEONE, TXT, ALLDAY PROJECT, TWS, and BOYNEXTDOOR.
