A modder has created a multiplayer mode for The Last of Us Part 2 and released a 25-minute gameplay trailer showing it in action. The mod is scheduled to launch in September.
Specilizer developed the mod following the cancellation of The Last of Us Online. Development began in January and includes a lobby system along with matches on both custom and story maps.
The project responds to interest from fans of the original The Last of Us multiplayer mode. Former PlayStation president Shuhei Yoshida had praised the cancelled official effort.
Videos documenting the mod's creation appear on Specilizer's YouTube channel. The mod runs on PC and is not an official Sony release.
