New actors join Cameron Diaz's untitled romantic comedy

Fabrizio Guido, Lisa Gilroy, Myra Lucretia Taylor, and Dustin Ybarra have joined the cast of an untitled romantic comedy for Amazon MGM Studios. The film stars Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant, with Merchant directing and co-writing the script. The story centers on a fake marriage that turns into romance.

The untitled romantic comedy, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, follows a workaholic British man working at an upscale New York hotel, played by Stephen Merchant, who needs a wife for appearances. He makes a deal with a struggling stand-up comic, portrayed by Cameron Diaz, who seeks health insurance. Their arrangement begins as a transaction but evolves into an unexpected romance.

Previously announced cast members include Josh Segarra and Sherry Cola. The new additions are Fabrizio Guido, known for roles in the Netflix series Running Point and Mr. Iglesias, as well as HBO Max's Perry Mason season two and Paramount+'s Good Burger 2; Lisa Gilroy, with credits in Shrinking, Jury Duty, and upcoming films like Super Troopers 3 and You Deserve Each Other for Amazon MGM Studios; Myra Lucretia Taylor, recently in the Oscar-winning American Fiction from Amazon MGM Studios' Orion Pictures, and a Tony nominee for her Broadway role in TINA; and Dustin Ybarra, a recurring guest star on Ghosts and seen in Jordan Peele's Us.

Stephen Merchant co-wrote the screenplay with John Butler and is directing. Producers are Lee Eisenberg and Stephen Merchant, along with Point Grey Pictures' Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, and Josh Fagen. Natalie Sandy serves as executive producer.

This project marks a return for Diaz to romantic comedies, building on the ensemble with diverse talents from television and film.
