Newcastle United have completed the signing of France Under-21 goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Ligue 2 side Reims. The 20-year-old has agreed a long-term contract at St James’ Park after recording 15 clean sheets in 34 games last season. Jaouen is expected to become the club’s new number one, ahead of Nick Pope. Aaron Ramsdale is set to return to Southampton after his loan spell at the club. Jaouen said he was excited to join and praised the environment at the training ground and stadium. Manager Eddie Howe described him as a great addition with real promise. This marks Newcastle’s first signing of the summer after a difficult previous window. The team finished 12th in the Premier League last season.
