Nick Kyrgios suffered another setback with his right knee during a first-round loss at the Mallorca Championships. The Australian exited the grass-court event in straight sets just days before Wimbledon begins on June 29.
Kyrgios fell to compatriot Adam Walton 6-3, 6-4 in the round of 32. He received treatment on his right knee after the first set and appeared to hobble between points throughout the 73-minute match.
The 31-year-old is returning from multiple knee surgeries and recorded just one singles win this season, in Stuttgart. He later withdrew from Halle and did not receive a singles wildcard for Wimbledon.
Kyrgios instead secured entry into the men's doubles draw, where he will partner Alexander Bublik. It remains unclear if he will reach full fitness before the Grand Slam starts.
Fans expressed concern over his condition following the loss, with some urging him to focus on recovery.
