Over 15,000 Bogotans receive Metro commemorative card for voluntary contribution

More than 15,000 taxpayers in Bogotá have already received a commemorative Metro de Bogotá card after making a voluntary contribution to their taxes. Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán announced the initiative that recognizes those who pay above what is required. The resources are allocated to infrastructure and citizen welfare projects.

According to District data as of May 14, more than 15,000 people joined the voluntary contribution mechanism for taxes such as property, vehicles and ICA. These individuals began receiving the card for their first Metro trip at their homes.

Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán highlighted the purpose of the measure during an announcement made this weekend. “The voluntary contribution is something unique: that people pay above what corresponds to them and do so with the confidence that those resources are invested in things that serve Bogotá”, he said.

The additional funds are allocated to infrastructure, public space and citizen welfare projects. Those who wish to participate can still do so before the deadlines set for each tax.
