Iconic Auctioneers is set to auction over 50 classic Ford models at the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show sale at the NEC on March 21-22. The collection, spanning Ford's performance heritage and everyday vehicles, carries an estimated value of more than £1 million.
Highlighting the sale is a 1988 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth, number 54 of 500 homologation cars, with 35,790 miles and a history file dating back decades. It is estimated at £80,000 to £100,000. Another standout is a 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth in Mallard Green, one of the original 'Big Turbo' models with a whale-tail rear wing. Owned by one person for nearly two decades and rebuilt in 2021, it is expected to fetch £60,000 to £70,000.
At the modern end, a 2018 Ford Focus RS Heritage Edition, one of 50 UK examples in Tief Orange, has just 71 miles and is projected at £80,000 to £90,000. The auction includes 14 RS-badged cars, such as a trio of Escort RS Turbos: two Series One models estimated at £55,000 and £45,000, and a Series Two at £22,000.
Everyday models are also featured, like a 1983 Ford Fiesta XR2 with 42,000 miles, largely original and two-owner, estimated at £22,000 to £26,000. A low-mileage 1994 Ford Fiesta 1.3 Finesse with 888 miles is tipped at £8,000 to £10,000, while a 1986 Capri 1.6 Laser is valued up to £6,000. Other lots include a restored 1968 Escort Mk1 1600GT linked to Ford's Aveley facility, estimated at £40,000 to £50,000, along with Escort Mexicos, RS2000s, Cortinas, Capris, Granadas, and a Transit minibus.
Rob Hubbard, managing director at Iconic Auctioneers, said: “Ford has produced some of the most loved cars in motoring history, from everyday heroes to genuine performance icons. This selection reflects that perfectly, with everything from rare RS models and rally-bred Escorts to wonderfully preserved survivors.” He added: “Whether you’re a seasoned collector or buying your first classic Ford, this catalogue shows just how strong the enthusiasm for the Blue Oval remains.”
