Parents recount last hours of Sharit and Rosmed in Jaén

The parents of two teenage girls found dead in Jaén have shared details of their daughters' final hours with police, as investigators probe suspected suicides. Messages exchanged between the girls and loved ones raise questions about the events. Authorities keep all possibilities open despite preliminary findings.

The two girls, Sharit and Rosmed, were found dead last Saturday in a park in Jaén. Their parents have testified to the National Police, providing information on the teenagers' final hours, as they had gone out with friends and were due home by 10 p.m.

The reconstruction of events, based on family testimonies, shows that around 8:10 p.m., Sharit exchanged messages with her boyfriend, telling him she was out with a friend. At 9:41 p.m., Rosmed sent a farewell message to Sharit, though they were initially thought to be together. Sharit's mother, Claudia, believes her daughter turned back upon reading it to meet her friend, instead of going home, which was unusual without notifying.

Minutes later, at 9:46 p.m., Sharit messaged her boyfriend to end their five-month relationship, surprising him as things were fine. «We were good and the relationship was super good», the young man assures. Claudia confirms: «My daughter was very much in love with that boy».

Another troubling detail is the messages sent by worried family members about the delay, which were marked as «read» hours later, when the girls had already died. The mobiles were in the pockets of their clothing when found around 1:30 a.m. by Rosmed's family, who searched on scooters.

Earlier, Rosmed had sent an audio to her father, Asmed, saying she was with Sharit, buying candies and taking a walk, with no hint of trouble. «We got worried because she always warned if she was going to be late», Asmed recounts.

The main hypothesis is suicide, supported by the autopsy, though toxic analysis results are pending. It is not linked to a prior suicide at their former school, IES El Valle, where an anti-suicide protocol was activated with no signs of bullying. Both had enrolled in an FP Aesthetics cycle at IES San Juan Bosco, but Rosmed dropped out early.

Claudia describes Sharit as «happy, responsible and obedient», who even did her homework before leaving and bought a birthday gift for a friend. The Government Delegate in Andalucía, Pedro Fernández, stresses that «all lines of investigation remain open» and testimonies and personal items are being thoroughly analyzed.
