Paul McCartney played the Beatles song “I Want to Hold Your Hand” live for the first time since 1964 during the wedding reception of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The event took place at Madison Square Garden in New York on July 3. Stevie Nicks also performed at the celebration.
McCartney, 84, performed the track after the ceremony when Swift’s mother Andrea invited guests into the reception room where a stage had been prepared. The performance marked the first time he had played the song live since the Beatles’ September 1964 concert at New York’s Paramount Theatre.
Stevie Nicks also took the stage during the reception, according to a source who spoke to People. Good Morning America co-anchor Robin Roberts confirmed the Fleetwood Mac singer’s appearance on the July 4 broadcast.
Swift and McCartney have shared a mutual admiration for years. Swift recently praised McCartney’s new album The Boys of Dungeon Lane on Instagram, calling him an “eternally exceptional artist.” The two performed together at a Saturday Night Live afterparty in 2015.
