A police officer from Rota and a 67-year-old man died on Friday night after a hit-and-run on Avenida Professor Francisco Morato in São Paulo's west zone. The off-duty officer collided with the pedestrian on his motorcycle, and both were run over by other vehicles. The State Public Security Secretariat expressed regret over the officer's death.

The accident took place on Friday night (24th) on Avenida Professor Francisco Morato, at number 2,440, in the Vila Progredior neighborhood, west zone of São Paulo. Security camera footage captured the moment a 67-year-old man was crossing the street and was struck by a motorcycle driven by Corporal Anderson Augusto de Oliveira, 34, a police officer from Rota (Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar), who was off duty.

According to witnesses, the elderly man was already close to the curb when he was hit. The State Public Security Secretariat (SSP) stated that the victim crossed the pedestrian lane even though the traffic light was green for vehicles.
