In mid-June, Police Region Mitt joined a global operation against human trafficking by inspecting massage salons and restaurants in Uppsala, Gävle and Västerås.
The operations included workplace inspections together with the Swedish Tax Agency, the Swedish Work Environment Authority and other agencies. In Uppsala five inspections were carried out, resulting in remarks for further investigation.
In Gävle checks were made at a restaurant and several Thai massage salons. Four cases were opened regarding suspected human exploitation or violations of the Aliens Act.
In Västerås raids targeted two massage salons where circumstances linked to drug use and sexual services were found. A total of 60 countries took part in the global operation.
