According to a report by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on Saturday, the plan is based on information from employee circles. A noticeable wage reduction would be required because pay levels in Slovakia are significantly below the German level.
A Porsche spokesperson declined to comment. Leiters had recently affirmed his commitment to the Leipzig site and referred to the ongoing pressure in the automotive industry.
The parent company faces the largest restructuring program in its history. Group CEO Oliver Blume presented plans for a restructuring program to the supervisory board, as Reuters learned from insiders on Friday.
