More than 70 local PP officials in Teruel have threatened to resign if President Jorge Azcón keeps Alberto Izquierdo as an advisor.
Azcón’s decision to bring the PAR leader on board as an advisor has triggered a strong reaction in Teruel province. Local councillors have described the move as a humiliation and compared it to a hypothetical hiring of Pedro Sánchez by Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The signatories of the letter state that Izquierdo has been the greatest enemy of PP mayors and warn they will not tolerate his presence in the party. They claim the stance is unanimous in Teruel and that the appointment exceeds normal internal coexistence. Azcón has called a meeting for Tuesday in Zaragoza with provincial president Joaquín Juste, mayor Emma Buj and councillor Francisco Narro to address the crisis. At the same time, PAR itself has rejected the incorporation and called on Izquierdo to resign from his executive post.
