Indonesian TNI soldier Praka Rico Pramudia (31), serving with UNIFIL in Lebanon, died after nearly a month of treatment for severe injuries from an artillery attack on 29 March 2026. UNIFIL announced his death on platform X, offering condolences to his family and Indonesia.
Praka Rico Pramudia suffered severe injuries when the Indonesian contingent's position in Adchit al-Qusayr, southern Lebanon, came under artillery attack on the night of 29 March 2026. In the same incident, Praka Farizal Romadhon was killed outright, while Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan sustained minor wounds.
Rico was airlifted by helicopter to St. George Hospital in Beirut for intensive care. Despite optimal medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries on 24 April 2026 after nearly a month of treatment.
Kementerian Pertahanan expressed profound grief over Praka Rico's sacrifice in the UN peacekeeping mission. Kementerian Luar Negeri offered condolences to his family and assured dignified repatriation of his remains. Indonesia condemned the attack, attributed to Israel by officials, as a violation of international law.
UNIFIL stated that attacks on peacekeepers violate UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and may constitute war crimes. Indonesia called for a thorough, transparent UN investigation.
