Remedy Entertainment Previews Control Resonant Sequel

Remedy Entertainment offered a hands-on preview of Control Resonant, the sequel to its 2019 game Control. The preview covered the opening act featuring new protagonist Dylan Faden.

The game shifts to a third-person hack-and-slash action-RPG format. It moves away from the original's Federal Bureau of Control headquarters and places players on the streets of Manhattan, which has been altered by the Hiss enemy.

Creative director Mikael Kasurinen explained the deliberate choice to leave the Oldest House setting behind. Dylan, voiced by Sean Durrie, uses a new shape-shifting weapon called the Aberrant that switches between forms such as a saw cleaver and a scythe.

The preview included combat against Hiss forces, new abilities like dashing and flying, and a boss fight. It also introduced dialogue choices for character development.

Control Resonant connects to the Remedy Connected Universe that includes Alan Wake. The preview was released on June 20.
