Sadie Sink prepares for Marvel debut amid Stranger Things finale

Sadie Sink is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Rachel Cole Alves in the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, following the conclusion of her iconic role as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things. The Netflix series' fifth season, part two, premieres on December 26. Sink's career spans theater, television, and film, with notable projects highlighting her versatility.

Career Beginnings

Sadie Sink launched her professional journey on Broadway, appearing in productions like Annie in 2012 and The Audience shortly after. She returned to the stage in 2025 for John Proctor Is the Villain, earning a Tony Award nomination. Her early television work included guest spots on shows such as Tweenies, The Americans, and Blue Bloods, leading to a recurring role as Suzanne Ballard in the NBC series American Odyssey across 11 episodes.

Television and Film Roles

Sink's screen presence grew with a minor part in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt before her film debut as Kimberly in the 2016 biopic Chuck, portraying the daughter of boxer Chuck Wepner. She followed with roles in The Glass Castle alongside Woody Harrelson and Naomi Watts, and the Netflix horror Eli featuring Kelly Reilly. In 2021, she starred as Ziggy Berman in the Fear Street trilogy, adapting R.L. Stine's stories. Other projects include the psychological thriller Dear Zoe, where she plays Tess navigating family loss, and A Sacrifice, another horror entry. Sink also appeared in the musical O’Dessa.

Recent Breakthrough and Praise

A standout role came in 2022's The Whale, opposite Brendan Fraser as his estranged daughter Ellie. Fraser praised her talent in an interview with Vanity Fair, noting, “I had a front row seat to watch Sadie blossom before my eyes. I had the best seat in the house to watch this kid, young woman, show us how natural and good and talented [she is].” In Stranger Things season five, Max remains in a coma but shows signs of mental resilience against Vecna.

Upcoming Projects

Sink will reprise her stage role in the film adaptation of John Proctor Is the Villain as Shelby Holcomb. Her Marvel entry in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for July 31, 2026, marks her as the Punisher's ally Rachel Cole Alves, expanding her presence in major franchises.
