Screamo project 'Taylor Swift' returns to Bandcamp

The screamo project 'Taylor Swift', created by Madison James of Ogbert The Nerd, has made a comeback on Bandcamp after an 18-month absence. The New Jersey emo band's initiative, which secured the pop star's Bandcamp domain last year, now features a seven-track release of blistering noise rock tracks. Each song clocks in under 80 seconds, reviving the project's relentless energy.

Project Background

Launched last year by Madison James, the guitarist and vocalist of the New Jersey emo band Ogbert The Nerd, the screamo project 'Taylor Swift' cleverly secured the Bandcamp domain typically associated with pop superstar Taylor Swift. In April 2024, James announced the endeavor on X (formerly Twitter), posting: “Ok, secured the URL, who’s starting a screamo band with me.” The initial post included a single, intense screamo track titled ‘Taylor Swift 1,’ showcasing blistering noise rock elements.

Return and New Release

The Bandcamp page vanished shortly after its debut, but on November 7, 2025, James shared an update on X: “Fellas….we got it back,” linking to the revived domain. The return coincides with the project's 18-month hiatus, bringing fresh content to fans of the genre. The new seven-track release emphasizes short, brutal compositions, with no song exceeding 80 seconds, maintaining the project's raw, high-energy style.

Context with Pop Icon

This underground project shares a name with global pop sensation Taylor Swift, who recently released her 12th studio album ‘The Life Of A Showgirl’ to commercial success, including her 15th US Number One and record-breaking first-week sales. While the screamo 'Taylor Swift' thrives in niche emo circles, the pop artist's work has sparked divided opinions among fans, from praise as 'pop perfection' to criticism as 'boring and basic.' Swift addressed the discourse in an Apple Music interview: “I welcome the chaos. The rule of show business is if it’s the first week of my album release, and you are saying either my name or my album title, you’re helping.”
