During the afternoon of Saturday, Carabineros apprehended one man and four women after an intimidation robbery in a Cruz Verde pharmacy in Ñuñoa, leading to a shooting at the intersection of Avenida Matta with Viel, near Santiago's Line 2 Parque O’Higgins metro station. The incident started with the assault in the pharmacy, where the criminals fled in a vehicle, prompting a controlled pursuit by police personnel that ended near the park. It was there that the officers used their service weapon to neutralize the threat, injuring one of the women, who is hospitalized at Posta Central and out of danger. Colonel Claudio Rosales from Prefectura Santiago Oriente stated that the shots were fired to avoid risks to pedestrians and uniformed officers. The detainees, all Chilean and adults, were identified as S.S.M.C. (28 years), Y.A.M.C. (21 years), B.A.M.M. (26 years), N.A.M.M. (25 years), and C.A.C.C. (27 years). Some have police records and outstanding arrest warrants for various crimes. The antisocials were placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry, while the Prosecutor’s Office will determine the investigative work at the scene by LABOCAR and OS9 personnel from Carabineros.
