Spyglass is developing the eighth installment of the Scream franchise, with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman hired to write the script. The announcement follows Scream 7's box office milestone of over $200 million globally, the first in the series to reach that mark. The sisters recently served as showrunners on the Peacock series Poker Face.
Spyglass Media Group is moving forward with Scream 8 after the strong performance of Scream 7. The latest entry, directed by franchise co-creator Kevin Williamson in his directorial debut for the series, opened to a franchise-record $97.2 million globally. It stars Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, alongside Isabel May, Courteney Cox, Anna Camp, Joel McHale and Matthew Lillard, and was co-financed by Paramount Pictures. The film has now surpassed $200 million worldwide in its 30-year franchise history, as first reported by Deadline in an exclusive story on March 31, 2026. The Zuckerman sisters bring credits from Poker Face, where they were showrunners, as well as writing and co-executive producing on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe and Prodigal Son. They recently penned a pilot for a Buffy the Vampire Slayer revamp titled Buffy: New Sunnydale, which was set to be directed by Chloe Zhao but did not proceed. The writers are represented by UTA and Lichter Grossman Nichols.
