Early reviews for the Star Fox remake on Switch 2 have given the game a Metacritic score of 81. The title arrives on June 25 as a visual overhaul of the 1997 N64 classic Star Fox 64.
The remake was developed by Velan Studios and features updated Unreal Engine-style visuals along with new cutscenes and multiplayer modes. Players can complete the main campaign in about 90 minutes while exploring alternate routes.
Reviewers praised the visual upgrades and reorchestrated soundtrack. One Game Informer writer noted the music and laser effects create a nostalgic yet fresh experience during boss battles.
Critics offered mixed feedback on new features. VGC's Andy Robinson said the shooting lacks some of the original satisfaction while certain story changes feel like downgrades. Eurogamer called the multiplayer modes adequate but tacked-on.
The game includes options for local co-op and camera-based features using GameChat.
