The Hershey Bears defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 2-1 on Saturday evening in Game 2, evening the Atlantic Division semifinal series at 1-1. Hershey goaltender Clay Stevenson was outstanding, stopping 37 of 38 shots faced, with 21 coming in the third period alone despite the Bears being outshot 22-8 in that frame. Stevenson improved to 3-1 in the playoffs with the performance described as shutting the door on the Penguins' comeback bid. Penguins netminder Sergei Murashov made 24 saves but took the loss, falling to 1-1 in the postseason. Brett Leason opened the scoring with a power-play goal at 3:35 of the first period, batting the puck home. Bogdan Trineyev added his second goal of the playoffs at 2:49 of the second period after briefly leaving the game due to an injury from an errant clearing attempt to the side of his head. Ilya Protas and Andrew Cristall each recorded two assists for Hershey. Aidan McDonough pulled the Penguins within one at 1:12 of the third, but they could not equalize. Game 1 on April 30 saw Wilkes-Barre/Scranton win 4-2 at home. Game 3 is set for Tuesday, May 5, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern in Hershey, followed by a potential Game 4 on Thursday, May 7, and Game 5 on May 9 if necessary.
