British rider Storm Straker was placed fifth in the CCI4*-S at Royal Jump in France instead of first after officials reverted to an incorrect optimum cross-country time.
The event took place from 28 to 31 May. Riders raised concerns after measuring the course, leading to a remeasurement and a change in the optimum time from seven minutes to six minutes and 36 seconds. At the riders' briefing on the Saturday evening, the technical delegate confirmed the adjustment. This followed an initial measurement error and a modification to fence 11, which used the three-star route due to ground conditions. After the competition, results used the original seven-minute time. Straker finished fifth with Fever Pitch under that calculation, despite being the winner at the revised time. Straker lost approximately €4,400 in prize money and received an offer of €350 in compensation. She has asked the FEI to review the matter and consider adjusting the placings.
